Since the Democratic Party lost all three branches of the federal government in 2016, we have been in disarray. Many have been asking how the electorate could choose an incompetent, cruel, crude, vile, bigoted buffoon like Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton, who is arguably the most qualified person to ever seek the top job. Now, however, we are fighting back. #THERESISTANCE is strong and rising, and prominent Democrats are speaking out against the disastrous, scandal-ridden Trump Administration. One such person is former Vice President Joe Biden.
It is good that Vice President Biden is stepping back onto the world stage. Dubbed “middle-class Joe,” he is a favorite son of Scranton, Pennsylvania – one of the states that Hillary Clinton should have won and that Democrats usually carry. Many believe he could have reached those voters that helped hand the state and other states like it – and thus the presidency – to Donald Trump.
Well, it seems that “Middle-Class Joe” is looking around at what Trump is doing, and understandably does not like what he sees. In response, Biden has launched a new Political Action Committee (PAC), aimed at electing Democrats. He has named a former aide from his time as Vice President, Greg Schultz, as the person to head up the effort. The PAC will be aimed at the working class voters that Hillary lost in 2016 – namely, those who went for President Obama twice then flipped to Trump for whatever insane reason.
If anyone can rebuild the Democratic Party with the working class, traditionally Democratic voters, it’s Joe Biden. However, there is a deeper question: Could this be signaling a 2020 run? After all, we now have the oldest sitting president in United States history, so there is no reason to snub Biden due to his age. Further, he is passionate, connected with the very voters we need to bring back to the fold, and reportedly deeply upset at what he is seeing from Trump. To that end, it is perfectly feasible that Biden could make a run in 2020, and it should be welcomed if he does.
Go for it, Joe. You could be just what Democrats need right now.
