Pope Francis has never played small when it came to criticizing Donald Trump and his immoral policies, and the pontiff reminded everyone once again why he’s one of the most respected and beloved religious figures around the world.
Recently, Pope Francis ripped apart the conservative notion that climate change somehow does not exist, despite the overwhelming evidence not only from the scientific community, but from the signs around us. In a discussion about climate change and the numerous powerful hurricanes that have ravaged the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean, the Pope didn’t mince his words as he said history would judge anyone who didn’t act on climate change.
Stating that politicians have a “moral responsibility” to act upon scientific evidence, Pope Francis pretty much spoke directly to Trump and his administration as he said:
Those who deny this must go to the scientists and ask them. They speak very clearly.
These aren’t opinions pulled out of thin air. They are very clear. Then they (leaders) decide and history will judge those decisions.”
Pope Francis has made it perfectly clear that taking care of the environment and reversing the manmade damage we have caused is a big priority in his papacy – and he is calling on Trump to make it a bigger part of his presidency. And if Trump should continue to ignore him, Pope Francis has just one explanation, which he stated during his visit to Colombia. In trying to justify why climate deniers may be incapable of accepting climate change, the Pope quoted the Old Testament and said:
Man is stupid. When you don’t want to see, you don’t see.”
We can all agree that that is certainly true in Trump’s case. You can watch more of the Pope trashing Trump below:
