Did you know in New Hampshire, there is not a state law against the exposure of nipples by either men or women? Well, thank God Republicans are here to right this wrong.
New Hampshire Republican men have proposed a bill that would make it illegal for a woman to “purposely expose the areola or nipple of her breast or breasts in a public place.” The new law does not mention anything about men exposing their nipples because of course it doesn’t. Republicans wrote the thing, so it is exclusive to restraining the rights of women.
New Hampshire state Rep. Amanda Bouldin was very annoyed that the party of “small government” decided to grow it just big enough to cover a woman’s nipples. She wrote a Facebook post criticizing the bill as sexist. That is when the knives came out.
Republican colleague Josh Moore responded to her post with the following comment which was since deleted.
As if that wasn’t enough, another Republican – Al Baldasaro, quickly joined the discussion to harass his female colleague about her own breasts.
Amanda Bouldin was reached by Slate.com for comment:
The idea that a man can be topless because his nipples aren’t sexual is bizarre.I certainly find men’s nipples sexual! If men being topless wasn’t sexual, they’d have to take off their pants to attract any women. We know that topless men are sexual. But apparently only topless men are allowed to display their sexuality. Women are not.
We shouldn’t be introducing new legislation that only applies to women. If we had any laws that started with the sentence ‘women should not,’ they should have been repealed by now.
There really isn’t anything more to add to this, other than to say she is 100 percent correct.
