Just a few days ago, the Trump administration came under fire for a highly offensive and insensitive comment that mocked Sen. John McCain’s health condition during an internal White House meeting. A White House official had stated that McCain’s opinion “doesn’t matter” because “he’s dying anyway,” which was then leaked — and set off a PR nightmare.
Of course in Trump’s White House, no one apologizes or takes responsibility whenever someone says or does something horrible. Instead, Trump and his minions are more furious that the comment was leaked than the fact that it was said.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders demonstrated how ass-backward the Trump administration is earlier today when she went on Fox & Friends. She went into a rage during the interview over the leak but still refused to acknowledge that the comment itself was wrong and more problematic. She didn’t even apologize to McCain, who has incurable brain cancer, for the insensitivity of the White House official.
When Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy asked Huckabee Sanders why someone would leak those comments, Huckabee Sanders attacked the leaker:
I can tell you there are a couple of bad actors. I think it is disgusting and some of the most shameful behavior that you could ever engage in. It’s an honor and a privilege to work for the president and to be part of his administration. And anybody who betrays that, I think, is a total and complete coward and they should be fired.
This is one of the greatest opportunities of a lifetime to get to work and serve for President Trump and it’s something that is sacred. Sometimes some of these leaks are made up and reporters search for validation for them … I can’t answer why people do it because I don’t engage in it because I find it to be some of the most disgusting behavior that you could ever participate in and one of the most disloyal things that you could do as an entrusted member of the president’s team.”
Co-host Abby Huntsman took the opportunity to point out that the McCain family has yet to receive the public apology that they were promised over the heartless comment — and Huckabee Sanders completely shut her down. Huckabee Sanders said:
I think it’s been addressed. We’re dealing with this matter internally.”
Huntsman argued, “But why the strategy not to come out publicly and say, ‘You know what? I shouldn’t have made the joke, it was wrong, let’s all move on’? Why not just do that?”
Huckabee Sanders again dismissed her:
She’s offered a personal apology. I don’t think we should continue to validate leaks that come out by making that the focus of what we’re doing.”
Absolutely disgusting. You can watch Huckabee Sanders portray Trump’s immoral administration below:
