Yesterday, Donald Trump publicly announced his terrifying decision to take the United States out of the Iran nuclear deal, proving to Americans that he intends to use his horrific “America First” mentality to isolate the country from the rest of the world, destroying our global standing.
France and Germany were completely against this decision, and now German Chancellor Angela Merkel has issued a statement that shows Trump’s decision is already having major consequences. In a speech honoring French President Emmanuel Macron, Merkel stated that Europe should no longer rely on the United States to have its back. Merkel said:
It is no longer such that the United States simply protects us, but Europe must take its destiny in its own hands. That’s the task of the future.”
Macron was with Merkel on this, urging European nations not to allow “other major powers, including allies” to “put themselves in a situation to decide our diplomacy [and] security for us.”
The world is now moving on without us. Over the last several weeks, many European leaders — including Macron and Merkel — had tried to get through to Trump and convince him to stay in the Iran nuclear deal. Unfortunately, those attempts were not successful.
The day before Trump announced that he was pulling out of the agreement, Merkel and Macron released a statement with British Prime Minister Theresa May, announcing that they would remain in the agreement so that Iran could not develop a nuclear weapon. The joint statement said:
This resolution remains the binding international legal framework for the resolution of the dispute about the Iranian nuclear programme. We urge all sides to remain committed to its full implementation and to act in a spirit of responsibility.”
Trump is singlehandedly taking America out of its once prestigious rank. We are becoming a joke, and the stupidity of our president is becoming a threat to other countries. Soon, they will want nothing to do with us.
