To say that Donald Trump’s Stormy Daniels sex scandal has blown up in his face is an understatement.
Earlier today, Michael Cohen, Trump’s longtime personal lawyer and the man who risked everything to keep Daniels quiet about her affair with Trump, got raided by FBI agents. Cohen had gotten himself into Trump’s mess of a tangled affair when he stated that he had paid Daniels $130,000 of his own money to keep the adult film star quiet about Trump, and it definitely came back to bite him in the ass today as the FBI raked through his personal office, seizing documents related to the hefty payment he made to Daniels in exchange for her silence.
According to Cohen’s lawyer, federal prosecutors had gotten a search warrant for Cohen’s office after a referral came through from special counsel Robert Mueller, who had already been investigating Cohen in regard to Russian meddling in the election. The fact that Cohen’s payment to Daniels may have violated campaign finance rules (though Cohen denies it) was just the icing on the cake.
In light of Cohen’s FBI raid, a tweet from his past has resurfaced and made him wish he’d never written it in the first place. Proving that there really is a tweet for everything whenever someone close to Trump is concerned, one of Cohen’s 2015 tweets is circulating and being mocked like crazy.
In 2015, Cohen had taunted Democratic primary candidate Hillary Clinton, in which he suggested she was going “to prison.” He wrote:
@HillaryClinton when you go to prison for defrauding America and perjury, your room and board will be free!”
Oh, how the tables have turned! As usual, the Twitterverse didn’t hesitate to call Cohen out and celebrate the fact that Cohen just got himself in even deeper shit by having that old tweet circulate again. Here are just a few hilarious responses:
We can’t wait to see Cohen and Trump behind bars in the near future.
